Promising strokes meet a familiar question: signal or noise?

A papyrology discussion returned to the difficulty of separating apparent letter shapes from segmentation artefacts and visual noise. After a participant asked whether a candidate was promising, another suggested checking the raw CT and noted that poor segments can produce clusters of strokes. Participants disagreed over an apparent reading, with one describing the pattern as pareidolia rather than convincing text. This exchange does not establish either a new decipherment or a definitive rejection of the underlying candidate. The downloaded text records questions and caution, not an independent examination of the imagery. Any reading would need assessment against the original visual evidence.
