Faster unrolling still faces a readability bottleneck

A contributor described progress with unrolling and three-dimensional ink detection at 9.6 micrometres on Paris 4, while stressing that recent winding-model improvements had stalled. The same account estimated roughly two hours for a Paris 3 pipeline covering winding and ink inference, fitting and strip rendering. Custom kernels and GPU execution were offered as explanations for the speed, not as a reproducible benchmark. Experiments with coloured papyrus backgrounds and ink overlays were also described as potentially helpful for readability. The discussion retained important caveats: fitting remained imperfect, winding counts could disagree with ground truth, and faster processing did not by itself make the results readable.
